Cordova, Alaska

Had the opportunity to visit Cordova, Alaska for a business conference in May. Cordova is a small fishing community with a total population growing from 2000 to 5000 during summer fishing periods.

The city was hit very heavily by the Valdez oil spill in 1989, which occurred in the same area where Cordove fishermen lay out their nets.

Driving through the city and the port and you notice that there are more boats than there are houses. Many people leave their boats and campers during the winter and return to them for summer time.

Overall it is a beautiful city secluded in one of the most northern parts of the world.
